Is CO₂ laser resurfacing safe?
Fractional CO₂ resurfacing is a well-established medical treatment when performed by trained providers. Your skin type, history and goals are reviewed first, and settings are customized to your skin to support safe, predictable healing.
What is the CoolPeel® CO₂ laser?
CoolPeel® is a CO₂ laser treatment on the Tetra PRO that delivers the benefits of CO₂ with minimal to no downtime. It improves tone, texture, fine lines, pore size and sun damage, and is often repeated in a short series.
What areas can be treated?
CoolPeel® and Tetra PRO treatments are not just for the face. Other areas, like the neck, hands, décolleté and back, can also benefit from skin resurfacing.
How is CoolPeel® different?
Traditional CO₂ resurfacing works deeper in the skin and is very effective, but it usually means a week or more of redness and peeling. CoolPeel® uses Tetra PRO CO₂ laser technology to deliver controlled, more superficial energy, so you get many of the same benefits with far less redness, peeling and recovery time. Deeper resurfacing is still available when your goals call for it.
Does the treatment hurt?
A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, and cooling is used throughout. Most clients describe it as warm and prickly but manageable.
How long does the procedure take?
A CoolPeel treatment usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area. Allow extra time for numbing before your session.
What will I look like afterward?
It depends on depth. After CoolPeel, most clients have a few days of redness and a rough, sandpapery feel. Deeper resurfacing brings redness, mild swelling and peeling for about 5 to 10 days, with most clients back to normal activities in about a week.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients see their best CoolPeel results with about 3 treatments spaced about a month apart. Deeper concerns such as acne scars may need a different plan, which your provider will build around your skin and goals.
Can CoolPeel® be combined with Morpheus8?
Yes! We often recommend combining CoolPeel with Morpheus8. Combining these two treatments can potentially provide synergistic effects. The CoolPeel laser can enhance the effects of microneedling by further promoting collagen production and improving the overall skin rejuvenation process. It may also help with the absorption of topical serums or creams applied during or after microneedling.
Is CoolPeel® safe for all skin types?
CoolPeel® is best suited for lighter to medium skin tones. If you have a darker complexion, we’ll evaluate your skin during the consultation and may recommend alternative treatments that better suit your skin type.
Who should not get CO₂ laser?
CO₂ may not be right during pregnancy, with an active skin infection or cold sore outbreak, after recent isotretinoin use, or with certain medical conditions. Your provider will review your history before treatment.
