Is Kybella^® safe?

Kybella is an FDA-approved treatment for moderate to severe fat under the chin, and it’s performed by a qualified medical provider. Its approval was based on clinical trials with more than 1,000 patients. Like any injectable, it can cause swelling, bruising or numbness. Your provider reviews your health history before treatment.

Are the results permanent?

Fat cells that are destroyed don’t return or store fat again, so results are designed to be long-lasting. Significant weight gain can still affect the area, so a stable weight helps maintain your result.

Can fat come back after Kybella?

The fat cells Kybella destroys are gone for good, so that fat doesn’t come back. The fat cells that remain under the chin can still grow if you gain a significant amount of weight, which can bring some fullness back. Keeping a stable weight is the best way to protect your result.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients need 2 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, and some may need up to 6, depending on the amount of fat and your goals. Your provider will recommend a plan at your consultation.

How long does an appointment take?

The injections themselves take about 15 to 20 minutes. With mapping, numbing and aftercare instructions, most visits are completed in under an hour.

What is the downtime?

Swelling under the chin is common for several days and can be more noticeable after the first session. Bruising, tenderness or numbness may also occur. Most clients return to normal routines soon after.

Is Kybella for men and women?

Yes. Kybella works the same way for men and women, and a double chin is a common concern for both. For men, it can help define the jawline and make a beard line look cleaner. Your provider tailors the treatment area and number of sessions to your face and goals.

Can Kybella be combined with other treatments?

Yes. It can be part of a broader plan with treatments such as Morpheus8 for skin tightening or chin and jawline filler for structure. Your provider will recommend the right order and timing.

Who should not get Kybella?

Kybella is for adults 18 and older. It may not be appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you’re planning facial or neck surgery, with an infection in the treatment area, or for people with certain medical conditions, including some swallowing or bleeding concerns.
