Is filler dissolving safe?

Yes, when performed by a qualified medical provider. Hyaluronidase is a widely used enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid filler. Like any treatment, it can cause swelling, redness or, rarely, an allergic reaction, so your health history is reviewed before treatment.

What is hyaluronidase?

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid, the main ingredient in most lip and facial fillers. Once broken down, the filler is naturally cleared by your body.

Which fillers can be dissolved?

Only hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Juvéderm, RHA, Restylane and Versa. Fillers like Radiesse or Sculptra can’t be dissolved this way. If you’re not sure what you have, Dr. Parvina will assess it at your consultation.

Does it hurt?

Most clients feel a quick sting or burning sensation that fades within a few minutes. The treatment itself is fast.

How fast does it work?

Many clients notice a change within 24 to 48 hours, once early swelling settles. Results continue to settle over the following days.

Will it dissolve my natural lips?

Hyaluronidase targets hyaluronic acid, and your body naturally replaces its own hyaluronic acid. Some clients notice their lips look slightly flatter at first while things settle, which usually improves.

Will I need more than one session?

Some cases improve with one treatment, while larger amounts of filler or long-standing filler may need a second session. Dr. Parvina starts conservatively and will let you know what to expect.

How soon can I get filler again?

We usually recommend waiting about 2 weeks so swelling has settled and your new starting point is clear. Then a fresh, more balanced plan can be made.

Can you dissolve filler done somewhere else?

Yes. Many clients come to us to correct filler placed elsewhere. It helps to share the product, area and date of your last treatment if you know them.

Who should not get filler dissolved?

Filler dissolving may not be appropriate if you have a known allergy to hyaluronidase or to bee or wasp stings, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an active infection in the area. Your provider will review your medical history before treatment.
